Oxnard, California Sep 20, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - 805 ROOTS JAM 2024 - SEPT 14, 2024, at Mrs. Olsons, Oxnard, CA

This past Saturday, September 14, 2024, a local reggae music event was held at Mrs. Olsons, a restaurant/bar/event venue located right on the harbor waters of Channel Islands at 2800 Harbor Boulevard, Oxnard, CA.  The event was created by promotor Ezra Robison of Mos Higha Events and Sarah Javid of Lion City Music Group, a local independent music label based in Ventura, CA that caters to up and coming local artists in the 805 area and supports the local music scene with events and promotion.

The 805 Roots Jam celebrated its 3rd anniversary with a jam packed line up this year featuring Blaze Mob backed by the Massive Riddim Band @thisisblazemob, a real rasta Jamaican roots band making waves across So Cal; Bombafiya @bombafiya, a reggae-rock based band fused with a sweet California sound; Keyth G & the Universouls @iamkeythg, a soul based reggae band with consciousness; Irie Smile, a collective band of seasoned reggae musicians; and Singular Nature @singularnature, a reggae rock and folk fusion band all of which for the most part are from the collective 805 area.  You can find these bands on Instagram and their music on all platforms.

The vibes were high as these bands took the stage with commanding performances that got you swaying.  The talent of these musicians and the harmonies and vibrations they created was truly a magical experience.  Guitars, bass, keys, drums, bongos, trumpets, trombones, and cowbell? The list of instruments is long and distinguished as were the musicians that played them.  A smile on the face of every patron how can there not be? This is reggae music we are talking about the quintessential sound of peace and love.

Hosting the event was none other than the Cool Ruler of KJEE radio, and the Reggae Soundclash program every Sunday 6 pm-9 pm on 92.9 FM.  His Jamaican roots and ties to world famous reggae musicians past and present mean one thing he knows what he hears and what he likes.  The 805 Roots Jam is Cool Ruler approved, and this is the second year he has lent his talents to the event introducing the main act.  Rounding out the hosting duties was Eugene Jackson aka Its400, hip hop artist & producer and MC extraordinaire.

Events such as these bring the community together and closer.  The artists/bands in this area are often seen at each others shows, wearing each others merchandise, clearly supporting their brothers and sisters whether they are playing together or separately on stage.  Events also need sponsors, and the 805 Roots Jam had returning sponsor Sespe Creek Distillery, pioneers & distillers of Silvergrin Vodka, Warbringer Mesquite Smoked Southwest Bourbon, and Parlor Cay Sugar Cane Molasses Rum, from Oxnard, CA; Green Coast Radio, a local streaming station featuring all genres of music; Jody Sweetyn Photography, a local music event and band photographer; and Massive CA, a California craft grown cannabis company. The professional sound and engineering of the event was provided by Fili Landeros and Masters Sound Live Company.

At $20.00 a ticket to watch six bands at a truly spectacular event venue where you are at the waters edge with sand in your toes next to a fire pit, the choice is clear.  The 805 Roots Jam is an experience you dont want to miss.  Follow @805RootsJam on Instagram for details on the next jam, September 2025.
